"Visual literacy is a learned “reading” of images. Semiotics is the study of how the reading of signs and symbols together communicate complicated ideas in the form of codes (Lester, 2000). Just as basic textual literacy uses vocabulary, metaphors, and genres, visual literacy employs colors, icons, and various media to communicate ideas and feelings to readers. Grounded in the senses and surrounded by a context, both basic and visual literacy rely on active construction of meaning through a process of interpreting codes and signs."

I Agree with this so much . I feel like students and even adults learn better from visuals. Visuals are such a big role in our society. Every thing we do has something visual to make us remember it such as nike. we all now a check mark on a shoes mean it came from the Nike Shoe Company.I think even as technology goes on our visual perception will still be the same as it is today and how it was yesterday. Even in education memorizing is always easier to study by visuals.
here is a video on how teachers help teach time by visual time timer

I agree with you, Alecia. I am a very visual learner. I think that being able to see and touch something gives one a better idea of how it works.
